CASA STAURENGHI - BARZIO

THREE CENTURIES
OF HISTORY
Casa Staurenghi is a home from another era and its history dates back at least three centuries.
With the passing of time, the house was gradually renovated and modernised until the major works in the 20th century transformed it into the complex we see today.
Where silkworms were once cultivated, guest flats have been created and a beautiful garden has been brought back to life where the river flows.
In the inner sleeve of the house, sheltered from the hustle and bustle of the city, lawns and terraces with mountain-view allow guests to enjoy the experience to the fullest.
Today, a simple holiday here has turned into an experience and Casa Staurenghi has become a concept, of welcome and home: Home Concept - Casa Staurenghi.
The earliest information dates back to the 16th century, when Cardinal Carlo Borromeo, known as St. Charles, stayed in these walls to recover from an injury during a pilgrimage in the valley.
More precise information dates back to 1709, when the house had a totally different interior layout to the one we see today, but its walls already housed the Staurenghi and Scandella families from Barzio, who had always been doctors in the area.
